As leaders we have the responsibility of leading others forward in the overcoming grace of God in life. We are not in a battle defending ourselves from the devil. The powers of darkness in our world are defending themselves from the advancing light of grace that works in and through our lives to the world in which we live. As believers we are clothed in Christ. We are clothed in the power of God’s grace. We are clothed in the armor of life to bring life to our world. Leaders must set an example and lead others in this testimony. The belt of truth is around the procreative area of our lives. The breastplate of righteousness is around our heart relationship with God. The preparation of the gospel of peace prepares our feet to walk one with God in His peace that surpasses our understanding no matter where we are on the path of life. The shield of faith takes us forward to release the life-giving authority of God to our world. The helmet of salvation gives us right thinking for the salvation of God in every situation and our testimony of His resurrection life in revealing who we are together in the fellowship of Christ.
Ephesians 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation…
We wear the helmet of His salvation. There is no god above us for He is the God above all in our lives. He is our salvation in every situation for we are fully awake in Him. The apathy of flesh has been overwhelmed by the passion of the Holy Spirit as the Spirit of Might. We are awake to God and not distracted by piecing distractions and attention grabbing circumstances in our lives. The grace of the Spirit of Might is making us alive to Christ in all things and we contribute to the cause of Christ as His people of praise in the earth. We wear the grace of the Spirit of Might to reveal that He is the God above all gods and that we have fellowship with Him and one another in the power of His resurrection life!
The helmet of salvation covers the area of our minds. Our salvation is a daily process and it is for the whole man; spirit, soul, and body (1 Thes. 5:23). We have received the washing of rebirth by being born again through the Spirit of Jesus in our hearts and the salvation of renewal is a daily process that renews our minds in every aspect of our lives.
Romans 12:2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
We cannot think like people in the world. We cannot think like we did as independent men and women who were disconnected from the fellowship of God and one another in Christ. We must embrace the change that comes by seeing God as above all in every situation and aspect of our lives. We live for the fellowship of resurrection life in Christ. Do we have a renewed thinking according to the word of God? Are we thinking according to God’s thinking or are we thinking according to tradition? Do we think thoughts that are beyond us or do we think as the world with thoughts about ourselves? Are our thoughts filled with hope or are we embracing hopelessness? Do we see God is above all things in every situation of our lives or are we too busy being occupied by crisis management and reactionary thoughts in our minds?
We have to cast down the strongholds of our own minds. The strongholds are in the thinking of our own minds. We must have the helmet of salvation on in order to appropriate every blessing that God has for us. If we don’t have the renewed mind of Christ we will fall to defeat before our adversary. We can only prosper as our souls prosper.
2 Corinthians 10:3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, 6 and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.
We must cast down the strongholds of our minds that resist our seeing of God above all things in our lives. Each of us is someone in Christ. We were created for good works in Christ. Those works are a testimony of the salvation of God in our lives. Our victory over the enemy in every situation of our lives is not based upon our strength in the flesh. It is based upon the testimony of the resurrection life of the Spirit of Might working in and through our lives. This is the power of our continued connection to God and one another. Our hope and confidence is in God.
