The Path of Faith

Blog In Audio:

   Greetings,

Faith without works is dead. The evidence of faith is seen in the outward actions of our lives. Those actions are not efforts to attain to faith. The are the fruit of faith from within. Faith is a matter of the heart, and true works are works that are motivated by the heart. This was true in the life of Abraham. Before he became transformed to be known as Abraham, he was simply Abram. His path in life seemed to be the path of an Assyrian, a Chaldean, but in heaven it was declared differently. God in heaven always saw Abram to be Abraham, but Abram had to choose a path of faith. He had to hear God and respond to God through the actions of his life.

Romans 4:9-15 Does this blessedness then come upon the circumcised only, or upon the uncircumcised also? For we say that faith was accounted to Abraham for righteousness. How then was it accounted? While he was circumcised, or uncircumcised? Not while circumcised, but while uncircumcised. And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had while still uncircumcised, that he might be the father of all those who believe, though they are uncircumcised, that righteousness might be imputed to them also, and the father of circumcision to those who not only are of the circumcision, but who also walk in the steps of the faith which our father Abraham had while still uncircumcised. For the promise that he would be the heir of the world was not to Abraham or to his seed through the law, but through the righteousness of faith. For if those who are of the law are heirs, faith is made void and the promise made of no effect, because the law brings about wrath; for where there is no law there is no transgression.

Faith happens when we hear God speak to our hearts. Faith works through love and it is always toward the one who spoke. Faith towards God comes by hearing God in our hearts. It results in actions on our part, but those actions are inspired by a revelation of God’s love in our hearts. We know that God loves us and thus we hear Him in our hearts. We respond with actions of love towards Him and towards who and what He loves. This was the path of Abraham. He heard the voice of God in his heart and he chose to take actions in life that followed the path of his heart. He saw God as his friend and thus he chose to walk a path that increasingly demonstrated that he was a friend of God. A revelation of God’s love empowered Abraham to walk a path of right relationship with God. The writer of the book of Hebrews wrote that Abraham was looking for something that God builds, something that comes from heaven. He died never seeing it, but the effect of path of faith changed the world for us all.

Hebrews 11:8 By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. 9 By faith he dwelt in the land of promise as in a foreign country, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise; 10 for he waited for the city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God.

Hebrews 11:39 And all these, having obtained a good testimony through faith, did not receive the promise, 40 God having provided something better for us, that they should not be made perfect apart from us.

Those who have gone before us in the path of faith are made perfect in our continuance in that path. It is a path given by God and not by men. It is given by God for the sake of mankind. As leaders, our path is a path of faith for the sake of those we lead. We are not called to teach people an obedience to some Christian belief system. We are called to lead others into a path of obedience to the faith.

Romans 15:25 Now to Him who is able to establish you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery kept secret since the world began 26 but now made manifest, and by the prophetic Scriptures made known to all nations, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, for obedience to the faith— 27 to God, alone wise, be glory through Jesus Christ forever. Amen.

As leaders, we must walk a path of faith for the sake of leading others into this same testimony. This is a path of personal relationship with God. The opposite of faith is natural sight and natural sight often inspires fear. In the fall of man, the first sign placed upon the woman was a pain of worry in pregnancy and great pain in childbirth. This was only a sign for all mankind in regard to being able to manifest as sons and daughters of God. The birthing of something new in the earth is always connected to pain and if we walk by natural sight that pain will tempt us to fear death in some way. Pain is part of the birthing process of faith and it is part of the path of obedience to the faith. Holy Spirit in the manifestation of the Spirit of Wisdom is the antidote to the futility of worry and a fear of death for all mankind. Wisdom is an attribute of God and wisdom invites us into the path of destiny. Wisdom for a heavenly path can not be discovered through earthy experiences. It is discovered through a heavenly relationship with Holy Spirit as the Spirit of Wisdom.

I will continue in this next week. For now, embrace the love of God your Father in all things and He will guide your heart into the path of faith. It will require actions on your part that may not make sense to the things you can see or feel at the moment. If it feels like you are not sure, you are a good candidate for the path of faith. The wisdom of God always inspires a willingness to yield and it is not invited by those who believe they already know. Faith is a testimony of an internal relationship with God in your heart. Faith is not about confidence in yourself. It is confidence in God. If you can trust yourself less, perhaps you can trust Him more?

Lead For The Church

Blog In Audio:

   Greetings,

Jesus told Peter that the gates of the realm of the dead (hades) cannot prevail against the church. Gates are places of influence. The church is called by God to prevail against the gates of the enemy. The church is the gate of heaven and it is called to be an influence of life in this world. The church is not some institution formed by men. Although we can find the church contained in the walls of an institution, she was never meant to be institutionalized. She is the power of God to change the world. She is a living body, a living organism, and she is intimately joined to God. She is the house of God’s presence filled with divinely joined members who each find the life of Christ. Christ is in her!

The manifest presence of God lives within the true church of God. To know the power of Christ within is to know the power of God’s grace. God’s grace is His manifest presence within us that is the greater power than any power in the world. It is not merely the human spirit; it is the power of the human spirit made one with the Holy Spirit of God. The human spirit is the human conscience. It only serves to tell us there is a God and we need Him. The human spirit is in all people, therefore there is no one with an excuse to say there is no God. When someone presents this argument, they are already debating with their own spirit. The human spirit calls out for the Holy Spirit of God, because only by the Spirit of God within can we become who God has called us to be. Christ in us is the secret to finding our true identity, testimony, and purpose in life, but to receive this is miraculous. It is as miraculous as the virgin birth of Jesus in the womb of Mary. We must be born of the water (natural life) and the spirit (Spirit life) to inherit the internal kingdom of God that transforms our kingdoms to become expressions of our Lord and Christ.

Every mountain is made of stones. The mountain of God is also made of stones. Those stones are the life-giving testimonies of those who have discovered the mystery of Christ within them. Each stone is a stone in the mountain of God. What is true for the mountain is true for every stone in the mountain. What is true for the stones in the mountain is true for the corporate testimony of that mountain. Those stones are made of testimonies that come by the unshakable love of God in each one’s life. They consist of increasing realities of the steadfast attributes of faith, hope, and love in Christ. These are the true elements of the church. The church is not some place we go, it is the substance we become when Christ is in us. When we gather together in some location that we call the church, we are simply making a gathering place where the stones in the church can come together for a corporate calling, inheritance, and purpose in Christ. It is not the physical location that creates the church, but the presence of Christ in each and every member in whatever physical location they find themselves. The church is not merely a place of being loved by God or of loving God. It is the testimony of love, inheritance, and purpose in the earth. We are called by God to find our identity in Christ, discover a testimony in Christ by the power of God’s grace, and fulfill a purpose in this world as an expression of Christ. The influence of the life of Christ inside of us should inspire an external influence in our lives that is stronger than any external influence that seeks to hinder life in our world.

God’s loves everyone and the gift of God’s love in the form of Jesus the Son is the proof of His love for everyone. His gift of mercy invites everyone to boldly come to God’s throne of grace where they can receive mercy and find grace. Our corporate expressions of Him should serve to inspire our individual connections to Him. Our individual connection to Him should inspire our corporate connections so that we can stir one another up towards love and good works in Christ. Those joined together constitute a building of God’s presence and a field for God’s purpose in the earth.

1 Corinthians 3:9 For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, you are God’s building. 10 According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. But let each one take heed how he builds on it. 11 For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

The field is more important than those who work in the field. The building containing God’s presence is more important that those who build. As leaders we need to fulfill our role as workers in God’s field and builders in God’s house, but we must live for the place of Christ’s calling, inheritance, and destiny in all things. This is the church, the gate of heaven to overcome the gates of death in the unfolding destiny of men.

Jesus Has Come

Blog In Audio:

   Greetings,

God loves everyone in the world and the Spirit of God is calling each and everyone to come to God in Christ. The true testimony is only found when we invite the testimony of Christ within our hearts. This is the Spirit of Christ whom the world cannot receive.

John 14:15 “If you love Me, keep My commandments. 16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. 18 I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.”

Jesus was God with His disciples, but He promised He would also be in them after His death and resurrection. He made a distinction between them and the world. He desires that all the world would believe, but only those who seek Him will find Him. When we choose to have a personal relationship with God in our lives, He is faithful to come to us.

John 20:19 Then, the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them, “Peace be with you.” 20 When He had said this, He showed them His hands and His side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord. 21 So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” 22 And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit.

The death of Jesus upon the cross has secured peace for all mankind. There is now a way for us to see God for who He really is. He is our loving Father and He wants to have a relationship with us in all things. He gives life, breath, and all things. When Jesus breathed upon disciples in the room, I believe the Spirit of God was able to be received. They had to open their hearts to receive the Spirit of Christ within.  We must not be deceived to merely living human lives for our own human dreams and desires. We are called to greater things. We are called to live for the glory of God! This is only possible by the supernatural presence and power of Christ within.

1 John 4:1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.  2 By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, 3 and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world. 4 You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. 5 They are of the world. Therefore they speak as of the world, and the world hears them. 6 We are of God. He who knows God hears us; he who is not of God does not hear us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.

It is the Spirit that confesses Jesus Christ has come into your flesh, that is of God. This is the internal witness of life and this is what separates us from the world. Everyone in the world is welcome to come, but each one must come to God in Christ. Only Christ in you is the greater power. It is the power of the resurrection life of God working within. It is not merely the spirit that says Jesus came in the form of flesh two thousand years ago, but the spirit that acknowledges Christ in humanity. Christ in humanity is the testimony of Jesus, the Lord, coming into our own personal lives. Any voice of God to us will be witnessed by the life-giving Spirit of Christ within us. We must willingly receive Him to be internally empowered to confess our believing Him. The internal motivator is the Holy Spirit who has been sent in Jesus name to bear witness to the One whose name is above all other names in every progressing age to come. As leaders, we must lead others into the truth of the internal reality of the power of Jesus name. This is the power of Jesus in the flesh of those who believe!

The Word and The Church

Blog In Audio:

    Greetings,

The Scriptures are not written to the world. They are written as a witness to the voice of God in the heart of all each and everyone who believes. We must understand this in order to move forward from merely being people that God says belong because of His love to becoming people that know they belong for His presence, His testimony, and His purpose in all things. When we read the Scriptures, we are not reading letters written to those who do not believe in God the Father, Jesus the Son, or Holy Spirit as God the giver of life in all things. Holy Spirit can use the Scriptures as a witness to His voice to convict the heart of anyone, but the written word of God is given to those who believe that they might know what they believe in their personal and intimate relationship with God. As believers, we should consume the written word of God to activate His living testimony within our hearts. We read the Scriptures to activate an accurate hearing of God’s voice in our hearts. We should spend more time reading the Scriptures than any other book in the world. No other book, not even books who proclaim to be Christian in their purpose, is more valuable than the written word of God.  It is sharp enough to pierce through our souls and into our spirits to activate us to hear God’s voice within. It is a letter to the church, and it can only be interpreted and applied properly when it is understood that it is for those who believe. The letter written to those who are yet to believe is the testimony of those who believe as they become the evidence of lives transformed by the power of Christ within. This is the testimony of the church. Surely the enemy has formed weapons against this. This is no doubt why being the church is such a challenge in our journey of life.

God is building His church in the earth. His church is His eternal bride revealed as the Proverbs chapter 31 woman in the earth. She is the body of Christ joined to Jesus the Christ, the head of all that is the fullness of God in the earth. She is dealing in the real estate of the earth on behalf of her husband, Jesus, who sits in the gates as Lord of lords and King of Kings in all things.

Ephesians 1:22 And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, 23 which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.

If you search the Scriptures, you will find that standing and walking through the land is a testimony to receiving the land as a possession of inheritance. The church is the body of Christ and she is joined to Jesus as the head to transform the world through the calling, the testimony, and the power of the destiny of Christ. Christ is the place of God’s manifest presence in the earth. It is the manifest presence of God in human form. It is not natural, but supernatural in character, nature, way, power, and authority.

Jesus was the manifest presence of Christ as the eternal Adam, a new creation of mankind for the glory of God in all things. Within Him was the spiritual rib that would be formed into the eternal Eve that would be made of every tribe, tongue, people, and nation in the generations of mankind. From the nations and the generations, a new creation would arise that is the testimony of the body of Christ. The world is not the body of Christ, but the earth is being called to come and be a part of a born-again creation in the body of Christ. This is the New Covenant Adam and Eve joined in the Spirit for the will of God the Father in heaven and upon the earth. The mandate of this New Covenant Man is to be fruitful, multiply, fill, subdue, and have dominion in all things. This can only be fulfilled in a Man, male and female, that is the fullness of God in bodily form. The bodily form includes the headship of Jesus and the co-joining partner of an eternal Eve, known as the church. She is joined to her husband in all things and they are one flesh together for the glory of God the Father in all things. They are not a body of flesh, but a body of the Holy Spirit that fills all in all. The testimony of this body is the same as what was revealed in Jesus, the eternal Adam. It is a testimony of being full of grace and truth. God’s grace is His manifest presence that destroys all manner of death. Truth is what be become by the power of God at work in our lives. Truth crumbles every lie. Grace subdues the world with life and truth fill every space with the dominion of that life. The blood of the New Covenant body of Christ is not the blood of the flesh, but the blood of supernatural power. That blood is the power of Christ within! God doesn’t just want us to live good, nice or happy lives. He intends for us to live a life of greatness and destiny in the form of the body of Christ!

God’s Wisdom Wins

Blog In Audio:

    Greetings,

When we pursue the will of God, we can expect to be opposed by the will of the flesh. We can also expect the will of God to win in all things.

2 Chronicles 20:23 For the people of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of Mount Seir to utterly kill and destroy them. And when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, they helped to destroy one another. 24 So when Judah came to a place overlooking the wilderness, they looked toward the multitude; and there were their dead bodies, fallen on the earth. No one had escaped.

When we face the opposition of human wisdom we must do as Judah did in the days of Jehoshaphat. We must humble ourselves before God. We must seek His will to be done and the influence of His kingdom to come. We must stand to praise God and not bow to the power or pressure of earthly, sensual, or demonic inspirations. As did Judah, we must trust that who we are in Christ is enough and we must thrust our hands towards heaven to trust God above all things. Our weapons of warfare are not fleshly, but mighty in Christ and God’s mercy will prove to endure!

James 3:13 Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom. 14 But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth. 15 This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic. 16 For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there. 17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. 18 Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.

Wisdom is the means by which we move from today into the footsteps that move forward in the path of destiny. That path leads to the destiny of God’s will and not the will of self. It leads to the destination of God’s purpose and not the success of some human agenda. When we get our identity out of what we do rather than who we are in Christ, we can become envious of what we see others doing. This opens the door of our hearts to earthly wisdom. When we do this, we become confused and we do evil things. It is not that one intends to do evil things, it is the fruit of deception. Human agendas and the will of self will cause our focus to be self-defending, self-fulfilling, and selfish in our thinking. This is earthly wisdom and not the wisdom of God. Earthly wisdom in not pure, not peaceable, not gentle, not willing to yield, it is not merciful, does not produce good fruit, shows partiality, and it is full of hypocrisy. It is not concerned with right relationships or with making peace. It is concerned with fulfilling personal agendas and is destructive in its character, nature, way and power.

When we stand in the wisdom of God, the wisdom of God will prove to lead us into the path of true destiny. What the enemy intends for evil in our lives will prove to work for good. In the battle of Jehoshaphat, the victory included new treasures that came to them because of God’s wisdom. What the enemy thought they possessed became the possessions of God’s people.

2 Chronicles 20:25 When Jehoshaphat and his people came to take away their spoil, they found among them an abundance of valuables on the dead bodies, and precious jewelry, which they stripped off for themselves, more than they could carry away; and they were three days gathering the spoil because there was so much. 26 And on the fourth day they assembled in the Valley of Berachah,  for there they blessed the Lord; therefore the name of that place was called The Valley of Berachah until this day.

When we trust God and allow Him to fight our battles, we will plunder the spoil of the enemy. Valuable things will be added to our lives by the mercy of God. The enemy will be lifeless and precious things will be added to our lives.

2 Chronicles 20:27 Then they returned, every man of Judah and Jerusalem, with Jehoshaphat in front of them, to go back to Jerusalem with joy, for the Lord had made them rejoice over their enemies. 28 So they came to Jerusalem, with stringed instruments and harps and trumpets, to the house of the Lord. 29 And the fear of God was on all the kingdoms of those countries when they heard that the Lord had fought against the enemies of Israel. 30 Then the realm of Jehoshaphat was quiet, for his God gave him rest all around.

Focus on God

Blog In Audio:

      Greetings,

God wants to defeat the will of self, the will of a people, and every demonic influence that opposes God’s will in our lives. When faced with the attack of Moab, Ammon, and Mount Seir, Jehoshaphat and the people of Judah stood fast to know that God is great, God is good, and His mercy endures forever.

2 Chronicles 20:12 O our God, will You not judge them? For we have no power against this great multitude that is coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are upon You.”

I presented in a previous blog that Moab represents the will of self, Ammon represents the will of other people, and Mount Seir represents strongholds of demonic deception. When we pursue our own will; or the will of others, it often opens the door to some form of demonic deception. When this happens, it sometimes appears to be the path of what to do, but God’s path in our lives is a path of faith. Faith is a supernatural substance that wells up from inside of us when we hear God’s voice in our heats. His voice is a voice of the Spirit and not a voice that is immediately understood by our souls. It is not even reasonable. It is supernatural. It happens when we stand fast in the place of God’s presence in our lives. God’s manifest presence in our lives is the key to the immediate and future path of our destiny in Christ.

2 Chronicles 20:13 Now all Judah, with their little ones, their wives, and their children, stood before the Lord. 14 Then the Spirit of the Lord came upon Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, a Levite of the sons of Asaph, in the midst of the assembly.

In the story of Jehoshaphat, Jehaziel the prophet gave the word concerning God’s deliverance. Jahaziel means, beheld of God; Zechariah means, Jehovah remembers; Benaiah means. Jehovah has built or Yahweh has built up; Jehiel means, God sweeps away; Mattaniah means, gift of Jehovah; Levi means,  joined to; and Asaph means, gatherer. When we are gathered to God, we know that we are joined to Him and He demonstrates who we are because of Him. He sweeps away everything that is against us becoming what He builds in our lives because He causes us to think upon Him and to know that He sees us in every circumstance of our lives. The presence of God becomes more important than the circumstances that surround us. The presence of God in our lives becomes more important than the will of self, the will of others, or any demonic assault that may seek to deceive or destroy us in life. The word of the Lord to Jehoshaphat and the children of Judah came from the atmosphere and substance of this prophetic sound.

2 Chronicles 20:15 And he said, “Listen, all you of Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem, and you, King Jehoshaphat! Thus says the Lord to you: ‘Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s. 16 Tomorrow go down against them. They will surely come up by the Ascent of Ziz, and you will find them at the end of the brook before the Wilderness of Jeruel. 17 You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord, who is with you, O Judah and Jerusalem!’ Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them, for the Lord is with you.”

The name Ziz means ,flower and the name Jeruel means, taught by God. God takes what the enemy intends for evil and turns it for good when we stand fast with a focus on Him in all things. God’s presence is more important than any other thing in our lives. When we discover, maintain, and hold fast to Him, He will deliver us in all things.

2 Chronicles 20:18 And Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground, and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem bowed before the Lord, worshiping the Lord. 19 Then the Levites of the children of the Kohathites and of the children of the Korahites stood up to praise the Lord God of Israel with voices loud and high. 20 So they rose early in the morning and went out into the Wilderness of Tekoa; and as they went out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, “Hear me, O Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem: Believe in the Lord your God, and you shall be established; believe His prophets, and you shall prosper.” 21 And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed those who should sing to the Lord, and who should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army and were saying: “Praise the Lord, for His mercy endures forever.” 22 Now when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were defeated.

Tekoa means, a stockade.A stockade can be a place of defense or even a place for imprisoning others. Berachah means, benediction; by implication prosperity. Only God can free us from the supernatural prisons of the enemy. God’s blessings in our lives are greater than the curses that the enemy seeks to put upon us. The will of self, the will of people, and demonic deceptions are overcome by the blessings of God when we put our whole hearts to see Him above all things.

Human Wisdom and the Wisdom of God

Blog In Audio:

       Greetings,

We are living in a time where the will of self, the will of a special interest group of people, and demonically inspired deceptions are blinding men and women to the truth of the wisdom of God. Wisdom leads us into the future, but only the wisdom of God can lead us into the future that God has destined for us to discover. Surely things that are hidden are manifesting in this present time and there is a war between the will of humanity and the will of God. God is at peace with all that He knows and He has a plan to bring about His will in the earth, but mankind often resists His will by their own preconceived ideas as to what God’s will should be for their lives. They are often willing to exchange the wisdom of God for some human form of wisdom. Human wisdom is earthly, sensual, and demonically influenced and thus it is a wisdom that is not willing to yield to the will of God. It is not humble, teachable, nor willing to change.

The wisdom of God is a meek wisdom; it is a wisdom that is willing to yield. It is not defensive concerning what is known from the past but is sensitive to embrace things that have not been seen, heard, or thought before. Wisdom from God requires an innocent trust in what God says. Natural human wisdom is very often an enemy to the wisdom of God in our lives. Natural wisdom is based upon human will and human will can come in the form of self-will or the will of others. I believe the sons of the daughters of Lot depict these two types of wisdom. Wisdom involves moving into the future, and in the story of Lot and his daughters, there was a fear of no future, thus there was a pursuing of the future through carnal human ways.

Genesis 19:30 Then Lot went up out of Zoar and dwelt in the mountains, and his two daughters were with him; for he was afraid to dwell in Zoar. And he and his two daughters dwelt in a cave. 31 Now the firstborn said to the younger, “Our father is old, and there is no man on the earth to come in to us as is the custom of all the earth. 32 Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve the lineage of our father.” 33 So they made their father drink wine that night. And the firstborn went in and lay with her father, and he did not know when she lay down or when she arose. 34 It happened on the next day that the firstborn said to the younger, “Indeed I lay with my father last night; let us make him drink wine tonight also, and you go in and lie with him, that we may preserve the lineage of our father.” 35 Then they made their father drink wine that night also. And the younger arose and lay with him, and he did not know when she lay down or when she arose. 36 Thus both the daughters of Lot were with child by their father. 37 The firstborn bore a son and called his name Moab; he is the father of the Moabites to this day. 38 And the younger, she also bore a son and called his name Ben-Ammi; he is the father of the people of Ammon to this day.

Moab was the son of the oldest daughter of Lot after they fled to the caves at the destruction of Sodom and Gomorra. Ammon was the son of the second daughter. Moab means, seed of the father or specifically – an incestuous seed. Ammon means tribal or the will of the people. These sons were born though actions of natural wisdom. Fear based actions produced two nations that represented the will of self and the will of a people. Neither of these produce the testimony of the will of God. These sons were born from fleeing Zoar. The name Zoar means, insignificance and it was a city at the southeast end of the Dead Sea grouped with Sodom and Gomorrah as being one of the five cities slated for destruction by God; spared at Lot’s plea as his place of refuge. Human wisdom is fear based and it is fueled in its energy through a struggle to find true significance. Just as the city of Zoar was at the lower end of the Dead Sea, so human wisdom is spawned at the dead-end places of death in human thought. In God everyone is significant, but apart from Him we can never find our true significance.

We are living in a time of great significance. The will of self, and/or the will of a people (tribal), are born in a place that has an atmosphere of fleeing things that are insignificant. They were birthed from a place fleeing what was perceived to be insignificant. They were birthed from a space of fear of no future and a lack of understanding true identity. This is a place where there is a fear of no future and thus flesh tries to create a future by mere human will. These two earthly realities open the door to demonic influences, and those spiritual influences of deception war against true self, which is only found in Christ. When we find our true identity in Christ, this is true praise. Just as the name Judah means praise, it is only in God that we can find our true identity and be the praise of God in our lives. True praise comes from a place of faith, hope, and love. It comes from a place of true revelation that God is great, God is good, and His mercy endures forever. To find our significance in Christ, we must live in a place of knowing God is great, God is good, and His mercy endures forever. We must lead by example and inspiration for this cause.

Human Wisdom

Blog In Audio:

       Greetings,

Last week I addressed the story of Jehoshaphat king of Judah and his partnership with Ahab the king of Israel in pursuing something that was not the will of God. I mentioned that Ahab persuaded Jehoshaphat to go to battle against Ramoth Gilead. Ramoth Gilead was a city formerly established in the days of Moses as a city of refuge for unintentional killers. I have observed that in this present time there are many who are quick to go to battle against others assuming they are worthy of being conquered, when perhaps they are simply in a place of refuge for unintentionally causing death in some way. They didn’t intend to cause death, but they somehow ended in a circumstance or an environment that caused death or pain to someone else. Those in a community of refuge don’t need to be destroyed, they need to be healed and transformed. They are bound to some stronghold in their thinking due to some dysfunction or lack of life in their past. At the time of Ahab’s battle with Ramoth Gilead, the city was in the hands of the Syrians. The name Syria means a height as in a castle or a stronghold. Sometimes people get stuck in some place of life and it becomes a stronghold that resists truth. God wants us to be compassionate to those who are stuck in the strongholds of life. This city of Ramoth Gilead had exchanged hands from Israel to Syria several times and in the days of Ahab, king of Israel, it was in the possession of Syria. Ahab persuaded Jehoshaphat to partner with him in going up against the Syrian stronghold to retake the city with the encouragement of several false prophets of Israel. Jehoshaphat’s alliance with Ahab caused the identity of Ahab to come upon himself and were it not for God’s rescue he would have been killed for being mistaken in the battle. God rescued him and allowed him to return safely to Jerusalem. Although Ahab tried to pretend that he was not in the fight, he received wounds in the battle that resulted in his demise. When God confronted Jehoshaphat through the prophet Jehu, he was both sorry and repentant for his error of judgment. He made himself vulnerable to the people and he brought them back to the Lord God of their fathers. He gave the rest of his life to reestablish the judgments of God, the worship of God, and the testimony of God in the nation of Judah.

2 Chronicles 20:7 Are You not our God, who drove out the inhabitants of this land before Your people Israel, and gave it to the descendants of Abraham Your friend forever? 8 And they dwell in it, and have built You a sanctuary in it for Your name, saying, 9 ‘If disaster comes upon us—sword, judgment, pestilence, or famine—we will stand before this temple and in Your presence (for Your name is in this temple), and cry out to You in our affliction, and You will hear and save.’

Jehoshaphat and the people of Judah understood God’s covenant love. They knew if they became a place where God abides, they would know the salvation of God in whatever circumstance they found themselves in. A further test came when Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir came against Jehoshaphatand the people of Judah.

2 Chronicles 20:12 O our God, will You not judge them? For we have no power against this great multitude that is coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are upon You.”

2 Chronicles 20:20 …Jehoshaphat stood and said, “Hear me, O Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem: Believe in the Lord your God, and you shall be established; believe His prophets, and you shall prosper.” 21 And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed those who should sing to the Lord, and who should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army and were saying: “Praise the Lord, for His mercy endures forever.” 22 Now when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were defeated. 23 For the people of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of Mount Seir to utterly kill and destroy them. And when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, they helped to destroy one another. 24 So when Judah came to a place overlooking the wilderness, they looked toward the multitude; and there were their dead bodies, fallen on the earth. No one had escaped.

The name Ammon, Moab, and Mount Sheir, are very significant. Ammon means tribal or the will of the people. Moab means, seed of the father or specifically – an incestuous seed. Moab was the son of the oldest daughter of Lot after they fled to the caves at the destruction of Sodom and Gomorra. Ammon was the son of the second daughter. The story is that the daughters got their father drunk and then slept with him to become pregnant. They pursued this course because they feared there would be no future for them since they had been forced to flee to the caves for fear at the destruction of their home. Their wisdom was fear based and it produced two nations that represented the will of self and the will of a people. Neither of these produce the testimony of the will of God. Seir means hairy or shaggy. In Biblical terms something hairy or shaggy relates to something demonic. I believe that these three names represent things that are of human wisdom. More specifically, the natural wisdom of humanity. This is not the same as the wisdom of God. The wisdom of God is based upon things that only God can see, only God can hear, and only God can think. Earthly wisdom is based upon things that we have seen, we have heard, and we have thought before. Human wisdom alone is earthly, sensual, and can be demonically influenced and thus is a wisdom that is not willing to yield to the will of God. It is not humble, teachable, and willing to change. I believe we are living in a time where demonic powers are influencing the knowledge of men to cause there to be a great resistance to the will of God.  Deceiving spirits are fortifying human wisdom to create strongholds in the hearts and minds of many to resist the true wisdom of God. This is even true for believers in Christ.  As leaders we must trust God to deliver us from the influence of human wisdom in leading God’s people. I will address this more next week.

Restoring God’s Ways

Blog In Audio:

    Greetings,

In the history of God’s people, the children of Israel, there was a man named Jehoshaphat. Jehoshaphat was a king in Judah. The Lord was with him, because he walked in the ways of his father David. He had a good heart before God and sought to love Him and to worship Him.

2 Chronicles 17:3 Now the Lord was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the former ways of his father David; he did not seek the Baals, 4 but sought the God of his father, and walked in His commandments and not according to the acts of Israel.

Although Jehoshaphat had a heart after God, he made a strategic error by allying himself with Ahab, the king of Israel. By marriage, Jehoshaphat had made an alignment with Ahab – the name Ahab meaning, my father’s brother. Perhaps this is a significance to a relationship by human will or human circumstance. By implication, he got in trouble by coming into agreement with something not mandated to him by God. Human relationships had caused him to compromise in his own covenant relationship with God. Ahab persuaded him to go to battle against Ramoth Gilead. Ramoth Gilead was a city formerly established in the days of Moses as a city of refuge for unintentional killers. This city had exchanged hands from Israel to Syria several times and in the days of Ahab, king of Israel, it was in the possession of Syria. Ahab persuaded Jehoshaphat to partner with him in going up against the Syrian stronghold to retake the city with the encouragement of several false prophets of Israel. Micaiah, a true prophet, warned Ahab not to go, but Ahab ignored his word and Jehoshaphat joined Ahab in going against the city. A battle ensued and it looked to end Jehoshaphat’s life, but God rescued him and allowed him to return safely to Jerusalem. In the battle Ahab received wounds that resulted in his demise. Jehoshaphat was both sorry and repentant for his error of judgment when God confronted him through the prophet Jehu. He made himself vulnerable to the people and he brought them back to the Lord God of their fathers. He gave the rest of his life to reestablish the judgments of God, the worship of God, and the testimony of God in the nation of Judah.

2 Chronicles 18:31 So it was, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, “It is the king of Israel!” Therefore, they surrounded him to attack; but Jehoshaphat cried out, and the Lord helped him, and God diverted them from him. 32 For so it was, when the captains of the chariots saw that it was not the king of Israel, that they turned back from pursuing him.

2 Chronicles 19:1 Then Jehoshaphat the king of Judah returned safely to his house in Jerusalem. 2 And Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him, and said to King Jehoshaphat, “Should you help the wicked and love those who hate the Lord? Therefore, the wrath of the Lord is upon you. 3 Nevertheless good things are found in you, in that you have removed the wooden images from the land, and have prepared your heart to seek God.” 4 So Jehoshaphat dwelt at Jerusalem; and he went out again among the people from Beersheba to the mountains of Ephraim, and brought them back to the Lord God of their fathers. 5 Then he set judges in the land throughout all the fortified cities of Judah, city by city, 6 and said to the judges, “Take heed to what you are doing, for you do not judge for man but for the Lord, who is with you in the judgment. 7 Now therefore, let the fear of the Lord be upon you; take care and do it, for there is no iniquity with the Lord our God, no partiality, nor taking of bribes.”

Sometimes we make alliances based upon human relationships. Our heart’s intention is good, but sometimes our human will overrides the will of God. The will of God cannot be the will of self nor can it be the will of people. The will of God only comes when human beings are willing to yield their lives to the purpose and plan of God. When Jehoshaphat was confronted with his error, he repented. He didn’t just say he was sorry, he got down among the people and brought about change. He was willing to make himself vulnerable and to seek to embrace the will of God for the sake of others in his life. We must acknowledge our errors even when those errors involve relationships based upon human desires and human will. We must acknowledge our errors and we must be willing to change according to God’s purpose and God’s plan. When we do this, we can see the judgments of God restored in our lives. We can know the will of God being fulfilled in our lives. We are in a time of God’s plan when He is calling us to change our ways and to embrace His. Like Jehoshaphat, we must be willing to make ourselves vulnerable and transparent to others to see God’s ways restored in our lives. This is the mark of true leadership for the sake of those we lead. Sometimes we make decisions that are based upon our own compassion or our own definition of love. God is love and even in the hardest of actions that He would take, His actions are actions of redemptive love. We must trust Him and we must lead those we lead to follow Him in into His ways. We cannot allow deception to come even when it is masked in the disguise of human empathy

Present Truth

Blog In Audio:

     Greetings,

We are living in a very interesting time. As leaders, we are facing challenges and opportunities not seen before in the church. It is a costly time for leaders and for believers. God is requiring us to be transparent and vulnerable.

Psalms 29:9 The voice of the Lord makes the deer give birth, and strips the forests bare; and in His temple everyone says, “Glory!”

I believe that there is a present grace of God at work in the earth. That grace is a grace of the Spirit of knowing. I believe that we have been living in increasing measures of this grace for these first years of this millennium. This grace is a grace of becoming the people of God. To be the people of God we must know the purpose of our lives. Our purpose is life! The secret to the forest is not merely the forest, it is the generational life that is hidden therein. We cannot hold on to our stuff and freely live for the future generations. We must be willing to be exposed and changed. We are a temple of God’s presence individually and corporately as the family of God.

Whenever God does something in the earth, His is voice is heard by everyone. Although His voice is heard, His voice is not understood by everyone nor is it responded to. I believe that even people in the world hear God, but they don’t know that it is God who is speaking. They hear a sound in their spirit and that sound comes to their souls. Thoughts come to their minds, reasoning begins to become a strategy, their imaginations come alive in their hearts and they begin to dream new things or see new things. When God speaks, He speaks everywhere, and the frequency of His voice can be heard by those who have ears to hear. God wants those of us who are believers in Christ to have these same realities. We should be hearing God, embracing what God is saying, and creating new things with what we’ve heard. Unfortunately, much of the church tries to preserve what God said in the past and they’re not open to hearing new things that God is saying. Sometimes we hold on to our understanding of what God said yesterday so tightly, the very thing that God said becomes a strong rock of remembrance that can even cause us to love what God said yesterday more than loving God. We can close our hearts to hearing what God is saying today. We must hold on to the foundations of the past, but we must see them as foundations to the present and the future and not the absolute reality of the present nor the future. They are stones in the mountain of God in the past, but they are not the stones of faith in the mountain of God today. When we grip them too tightly, they become monuments to what God said yesterday and hinder us from hearing what God is saying today.

I believe that the present grace of God at work in the earth is one of finding our true identity in Christ. This is not for our own sakes, but for the glory of our Father in heaven and for the glory of His family name. The cry in the temple of God should be Glory! This is not our own self-indulgence, but the glory of the calling, the inheritance, and the destiny of Christ. This involves our embracing our part in the calling of Christ, the inheritance of Christ, and the power of destiny in Christ. It is about being a part of the will, the way, and the plan of God through mankind so that the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of God as the waters presently cover the sea. We make a great us and a terrible someone else. God wants each of us to be real and authentic. Even in the world, people are searching for their true identity. Their hearts are crying out to become authentic. In their search, they often embrace lies, because they do not know the source of truth. They don’t blatantly embrace lies; they are vulnerable to deception because they are not clear in understanding the source of true identity. They don’t embrace lies because they’re wicked or evil, they simply embrace lies because they don’t know how to find the truth. Unfortunately, we often do the same in the church as the people of God. We don’t know how to find truth. We don’t know how to discover who we really are. Only in Christ can we find our true identity. Our true identity is a testimony of praise! This is not human praise; this is human beings becoming a testimony of the praise of God as their heavenly Father. We are each a one and only in life. This is our true value. Our true value can only be discovered when we become who we really are. Who we really are in Christ will be resisted by what we are not. We do not wrestle against flesh and blood. We wrestle against spiritual powers who seek to destroy our true identity. Our true identity will establish our true dominion. God wants us to be able to subdue and have dominion in life. To subdue is to destroy death with a life! I believe this is the testimony of grace. Grace is the manifest presence of God’s Holy Spirit in our lives, Who destroys death. This is the power of grace. True dominion is to destroy lies with truth. Truth is not something we know in our heads; truth is what we become in our lives. When we discover our true identity in Christ, we discover our true dominion in Christ. Jesus was the Word made flesh so that all flash could become a testimony of God’s word. As leaders we must allow God to strip away the lies that simply serve as a hiding place from our true selves. We must be an example and lead others into the same. God is inviting us to go another measure in manifesting His glory as the people of God.
