God has put pathways in the natural sky and the natural seas of the world. Men before us have discovered these hidden truths that were set before us in the earth. These revealed secrets have empowered mankind to sail the seas and to traverse the skies in efficient and effective ways. God has also put pathways in the earth that are the paths of destiny for men. He has set boundaries and ancient landmarks that set the direction and the course of human purpose for the glory of God’s name. Those are the paths that lead to true life. We must find the ancient pathways that lead to life. Lawlessness and legalism create paths that do not lead to life. Lawlessness cannot change who God is, it can only distort or even thwart who we are meant to be. Sometimes lawlessness presents itself in the form of our own carnal desires, but at other times lawlessness disguises its true identity in self-satisfying desires and personal liberties that we deceptively embrace as paths that lead to life. Legalism is a false perspective of God’s ways. It is a ridged perspective that only looks at the shadow of truth and embraces the lifeless testimony of mere reflection of truth and seeks to use it as some form of restraint to the true desires of our hearts. Law cannot change us, it can only restrain us from living from within. God’s pathways are ways of passion and desire. They are paths that are filled with life and they lead to even more life. When we fail to find the pathway of God’s desires, we can end up seeking ways that lead to some form of dysfunction and death in our lives. We need to discover the source of the ancient landmarks and the boundaries of true inheritance.
The paths of God are His secrets that He has hidden for men to find. He hides things, because only kings can find them. He knows that the destiny of each and every one of us is found when we discover we are children of God, and even more as we embrace the maturing process of being inheritors of God as His sons and daughters in the earth.
Proverbs 25:2 It is the glory of God to conceal a matter, but the glory of kings is to search out a matter.
This verse in Proverbs could also be written: God hides things and poverty minded, self-seeking people never find what He has hidden before them. Those who live for themselves and their own personal desires never discover the truths that will reveal them as life-giving nobility.
God makes it possible for our true identity to manifest. God is a creator, He is creative in the midst of challenges. God is expectant, He expects life in the face of death. God is a giver, He never runs dry of His mercy and grace. As children of God, He expects us to grow up in His character and nature in all things. Children of the King are princes and princesses and they understand that they are born for the cause of nobility. They were born for the furtherance and the propagation of the influence of the family kingdom in the earth. This is the path of destiny before us as children of God. As leaders, we must seek to find the secrets of God and then to impart those secrets as an inheritance to those we lead.
Deuteronomy 29:29 “The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.”
When the secrets of God are discovered by men, they become landmarks in the path of destiny for the family inheritance. Wisdom will lead us in the path of the future. Wisdom is first found in the street, it is found in the continuity of the path that has led us to the present place of our standing. That path is marked with ancient landmarks discovered by our fathers before us. Wisdom is also found in the open squares. It is found in what God is doing today, but before we can find the open squares of today, we have to first follow the path of the street that has brought us to today.
Deuteronomy 19:14 “You shall not remove your neighbor’s landmark, which the men of old have set, in your inheritance which you will inherit in the land that the Lord your God is giving you to possess.
Proverbs 22: 28 Do not remove the ancient landmark which your fathers have set.
We can only discover the landmarks of the past as truths in our path of today when we seek to apply their secrets in our own hearts. A good leader is a good follower and a good follower becomes a good leader in the path of destiny. If we see ourselves as independent of our fathers before us, we see ourselves as source of new things alone. New things are a furtherance of the path, but new things in the path of inheritance are greater that new things that only reinvent beginnings that are independent of true inheritance and destiny.
